Welcome to English at St Botolph's
At St Botolph's we are extremely passionate about the teaching of English.
Starting in September 2016, we have changed our curriculum to make it more exciting and inspiring. All of our topics are now closely related to the teaching of English; this has had a brilliant impact on our thirst for learning and writing across school.
For more in depth details on our English curriculum, please see the English Policy and updates below.

Handwriting at St Botolph's
We are pleased to announce that this September we have started a new handwriting scheme in school. We are now using Join it handwriting font in all aspects of our lessons. Children will be exposed to the font around the school and will be shown how to form the letters as well as joins in their lessons.

Read Write Inc
Dear Parents,

We are delighted that we are now having whole school Read Write Inc every day. Children are in small groups to cater for their individual needs.

To learn more about RWI please see the RWI website. On the website there are helpful videos and links to support the learning of phonics. This will help with how to pronounce sounds correctly and give an indication of what the lessons look like.

We are also no longer sending spellings home for children to learn at home. However, if you would like to continue learning spellings with your child, please see the new curriculum High Frequency Words on the following link:

Accelerated Reader
Dear Parents,

Unfortunately, we have been advised by the Accelerated Reading scheme that children should not be allowed to take quizzes at home. This is against our licensing agreement. Therefore, please could we ask that you avoid using the link given here previously to ensure we do not break our agreement with them.

As parents, you can view your child's progress using the following link:

Please have a look at the letter below for more details.

To support your child’s reading, there is a website available to parents to check whether home reading books are included in the Accelerated Reading scheme.  The website is as follows:
You do not need to register, just simply type in the book or author and it will indicate if the book is in the scheme and the quiz number.

Please look at our Parent Letter and Parent Guide below in Documents section for more information about the Accelerated reading in our school.
We hope you will find this helpful!
